Julia Jansch
Biography
Julia Jansch is a South African filmmaker based in New York. After a decade of experience in development (at FremantleMedia & RadicalMedia) she plunged into indie waters and set up Point Pictures to tell her own stories. Her films have seen recognition from international festivals such as Palm Springs, Flickers’ Rhode Island, Heartland, Cleveland, Amdocs, OFF, Oldenburg and Shnit and her latest documentary short, My Father The Mover, won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary Short at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2020.
With a background in branded content, Julia is also commissioned by brands and platforms to create short form content. Her PSA, “++Open Your Eyes++,” commissioned by Convicts, featured on Boooooom TV and last summer she was commissioned to create five films featuring South African rapper, AKA.
Julia has a filmmaking diploma from The New York Film Academy, an MBA from Oxford and an MSC in Global Governance from Oxford. She is on the advisory board of The Wellbeing Project – an Ashoka-backed organization focused on creating a culture of Wellbeing for change-makers.
