JJ Adler is a director and writer who helped create comedy spots for all kinds of companies including GEICO, Hotels.com, Pepperidge Farms, P&G, SC Johnson, Virgin Mobile, Nestle, Coke, Verizon, McDonalds, etc., and with The Martin Agency, CPB, Mother, Droga5, Grey, VMLY&R, McCann, Ogilvy & Mather, BBDO, and many more. She specializes in stories told from a grounded and real place, but that are still full of one-of-a-kind, unexpected comedic delights.
In the Fall of 2020, JJ opened her own full service commercial production company, Ruckus Films, for US representation of a small roster of standout directors, including herself. JJ was a founding creative, co-EP, and Head Director at The Onion’s Peabody award winning webseries The Onion News Network as well The Onions 2011 IFC TV series. Her short comedy NEW MEDIA premiered at Sundance where it won several awards. And in 2008 she won a Student Oscar.
Her other credits include TruTV's "Adam Ruins Everything," a 2018 short "Places, Thank You Places" with SNL's Gary Richardson, and sketches all across Netflix’s critically acclaimed "Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show." JJ Adler holds an M.F.A. in film directing from Columbia University and thinks advanced film degrees are of dubious value. She's currently either working on her upcoming first feature, directing commercials, or talking to her dog in a very embarrassing voice.
