SING FOR THE TREES, a short film for Untitled Nine (2022)
Description :
While constructing a metal tree to hang his creations, an artist reflects on how he plans to make his presence known in a chaotic, natural world.
SING FOR THE TREES is a foreign-language fashion film for high streetwear clothing company Untitled Nine's debut collection of painted and reconstructed denim.
The film showcases designers Breeze Yun and Tyler Basa as they build a metal tree installation to showcase the vibrant collection between four white concrete walls. Accompanied by a Korean narration performed by Yun, the short film is a subtle exploration of what it means to live, create, and express in a natural world where everyone else is struggling to get their own ideas across all at once.
"When someone shouts out loud to express themselves, it often becomes just a noise."
The film was written, directed, photographed, and edited by 22-year-old award-winning filmmaker Ryan Henry Knight. This is the filmmaker's sixth directed fashion film after directing BAFTA festival selected, Silence is Black and White, at age 19.
