Biography
Director, screenwhriter and founder of Preta Portê Filmes, studied Cinema in FAAP and in EICTV in Cuba, and participated in the international formation programs Rotterdam Lab (Holanda, 2012), EAVE Puentes-AustraLab (Uruguai/Chile, 2012), TorinoFilmLab (Rússia/Itália, 2013) and Berlinale Talents (Alemanha, 2015).
As director, she realized the short movie “Colors and Boots” (Havana, 2010 and Huelva, 2011) and the half-length film “Leva” (Havana, 2011 and awarded in New York Film Festival, 2012), a coproduction with Canal Futura. Also in partnership with the channel, Juliana directed the short film “Mauá: Surroundings”, for the project Why Poverty?, an initiative exhibited in more than 70 channels worldwide and in important festivals, such as IDFA (Holland) and TIFF (Canada). She is the creator and producer of the clip Mil Faces of A Loyal Man - Marighella, from Racionais MCs, winner of MTV's 2012 VMB Clip of the Year.
In 2014 she premiered the documentary “School of Water - The Pantanal Challenge” and in 2015 the documentary “As Minas do RAP”, both in co-production with Canal Futura. In 2016, she was one of the winners of Rumos Itaú Cultural, with the project Conversations with Ruth de Souza, a feature documentary about the trajectory and life of the actress, still in production. In 2017 directed the TV serie “Afronta!” in partnership with Canal Futura and the 13th season of the TV series Espelhos, for Canal Brasil. In 2019 produced the series “Nós Negros” in partnership with Sesc TV. Currently works on the feature film "From the Streets of Sao Paulo", the first official documentary on the trajectory of the Racionais MCs group and is in post-production with de feature film Lili and the Dragon-fly.
