Kenya Márquez
Biography
Kenya Márquez is a film director, producer and scriptwriter.
Early in her career, Marquez participated in dozens of international film festivals and directing several award winning short films and a feature documentary. This lead her to work as the director of the "Guadalajara International Film Festival" (FICG) and as a programmer for additional festivals such as the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival and the Durango Mexican Film Festival between 2002 and 2005.
In 2011 Márquez produced, wrote and directed her her debut feature Fecha de Caducidad, which became the most awarded Mexican film of 2012.
Márquez directed and participated in the creation of the TV Azteca’s series Bajo el Alma and collaborated on the script of Televisa’s series La Isla de Clippertón. In addition to being a filmmaker, she also currently works as a professor at the Audiovisual Arts BA program of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG).
