Daniele Anastasion is a writer and director of documentaries, narrative films and commercials. She directed the short film I AM YUP'IK, about a native Alaskan teenager’s search for identity, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Her first feature documentary, THE REDEMPTION OF GENERAL BUTT NAKED, received the Sundance award for Best Cinematography and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. Called an extraordinarily complex odyssey" by the LA Times, the film follows a warlord attempting to reconcile with his victims. Her short series RUN MAMA RUN follows an elite runner training for the U.S. Olympic team while pregnant. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was nominated for an Emmy. In the commercial space, she has helmed award-winning campaigns for brands such as Nike, Amazon and Google. Daniele enjoys exploring the boundary between documentary and fiction filmmaking. Her debut narrative feature THE SCOUT was selected for the 2022 Sundance Screenwriters Lab.
