NIMA NOURIZADEH is an acclaimed British-Iranian film, commercial and music video director. From early on, Nima has had a love for music and the arts. After graduating from Central St. Martins College of Art & Design where Nima studied Fine Art Film and Video, he and two friends formed The Imaginary Tennis Club collective, and established their studio, as well as the art gallery, Millers Terrace, based out of a warehouse in east London. The collective shot videos for up and coming UK artists, made short films, and created visuals for live events and parties, and featured their own work as well as the work of the artists they represented in their space. With experience in all aspects of filmmaking from producing to shooting to editing, Nima found himself working as the editor on White Cube artist Darren Almond’s 2002 film ‘A’.
These early experiences galvanized Nima’s passion for art, music and filmmaking, and inspired the need to pursue a solo career. In 2005, Nima directed a breakthrough music video for Hot Chip’s smash single “Over and Over,” followed by award-winning videos for artists such as Lily Allen, Chromeo, Flight of the Conchords, Mark Ronson and many more. In 2008, Nima won Best Director at the UK Music Video Awards, and soon after, made iconic commercials, most notably the campaigns for Adidas with the likes of Snoop Dogg, David Beckham, Missy Elliot and Katy Perry, which won several major awards in advertising, including the Silver at Cannes. Nima’s Adidas HOUSE PARTY commercial and his Star Wars themed follow up campaign a year later, gained him the attention of Hollywood. Soon after, Nima teamed up with producers Todd Phillips and Joel Silver to direct Warner Bros’ hit comedy, PROJECT X. The movie marked his feature film debut and further established Nima as the fresh, uninhibited voice of a new generation. In 2015, Lionsgate released Nima’s second feature film, the action-comedy AMERICAN ULTRA, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart. Nima recently directed an episode of the critically acclaimed anthology TV show LITTLE AMERICA for Apple TV+.
Nima currently lives in LA, where he continues to explore the various mediums that allow him to channel his creativity, whether it be in Photography, Film, Television, Commercials, Music Videos, VR or Art-based projects.
