Rita Baghdadi is an Emmy award winning documentary Director. She makes bold, character-driven films with an intimate lens.
Rita is a Sundance Finance Intensive fellow, a Film Independent Documentary fellow and a Gucci Tribeca grantee. Her projects have also been supported by IFP, Netflix and the International Documentary Association. The Hollywood Reporter recognized Rita's work as "intimate." Recently, Rita’s documentary MY COUNTRY NO MORE won Best Feature at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and was picked up for broadcast on Independent Lens. Her documentary CITY RISING won three Emmy awards including Best Social Issue Film. Rita is also an accomplished cinematographer, having shot for Oscar-caliber directors including Amy Zeiring, Kirby Dick and Lucy Walker as well as on feature documentaries such as the Netflix original CIRCUS OF BOOKS (Tribeca 2019), SERVED LIKE A GIRL (SXSW 2017), THE MORTIFIED GUIDE (Sundance 2017) and LICENSE TO OPERATE. Rita is co-founder of the production company Endless Eye and a member of Film Fatales, Brown Girls Doc Mafia and the ICFC. She has directed and shot commercial content for major brands including Gatorade, Bud Lite and Beats by Dre among others. Currently, Rita is in production on four new feature documentaries. When she is not in the field, she is an active mentor dedicated to empowering girls and women to tell their own stories through documentary film training.
