Biography
Sharon Horgan is an Irish actress, writer, producer and director. She is co-founder and Creative Director of Merman. Sharon is the co-lead and co-creator of the award-winning and critically-acclaimed series CATASTROPHE (C4/Amazon). Of her BAFTA nominated performance, The Hollywood Reporter noted ‘it’s Horgan's performance that elevates the series, and Variety commented that & Horgan was half of one of the most captivating couples of the year… Before 2015, we were unfamiliar with Horgan, but now we can’t get enough of her deft and versatile on-screen work. Among other accolades for CATASTROPHE, which has been recommissioned for another two series by Channel4, Sharon has won a BAFTA in the Writer: Comedy category and was recently nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards alongside Rob Delaney. Sharon’s HBO show DIVORCE is currently filming its second season in New York. The comedy which she has created, written and produced - starring Sarah Jessica Parker, is set in New York and tells the story of a very, very long divorce. In 2016, Sharon also created and co-written the pilots for THE CIRCUIT (Channel4) and MOTHERLAND (BBC2). Following its pilot’s broadcast, MOTHERLAND has been commissioned for a full series on the BBC which is shooting later this year. Her BBC show PULLING was nominated for two BAFTA Awards and won two British Comedy Awards. She has created, written, and starred in multiple comedy shows, including ANGELO’S (C5), BAD MANAGEMENT(ABC), and DEAD BOSS (BBC). Sharon's comedy film GAME NIGHT, co-starring Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman, Directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, was released in 2018. Sharon’s further acting credits include THE INCREASINGLY POOR DECISIONS OF TODD MARGARET (IFC), PSYCHOBITCHES (Sky Arts), THE BORROWERS (BBC 1), FREE AGENTS (C4), and BAD SUGAR (C4), as well as the films RUN AND JUMP, DEATH OF A SUPERHERO, and MAN UP. As a director, Sharon has won critical acclaim with her debut film THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS, which also went on to win the Outstanding Achievement Award at the International 3D Awards.
