SAFIRA MOREIRA
Biography
Safira Moreira is a black woman from Bahia. She has written the script, directed and edited her first short-film named “Travessia” in 2017, that has been awarded in many national and international festivals; it featured as the opening short-film screened of the Rotterdam Festival in 2019; and it has been distributed in the session Vitrine Petrobras. Safira has also worked as the photography director of a short-film “Eu, minha mãe e Wallace”; and of the feature films “Hixikanwe” and “A Matéria Noturna”. In 2018, she has been contemplated by the Avon Funds for Women in Audiovisual to receive part of the funds for her documentary feature film “Cais”, that has been participated at important labs and market meeting events, like Brasil Cine Mundi (Brazil) and Mercado de Cine de Realidad - Afrolatam (Guía de Isora / Canarias Islands). This year, she will write the script and direct the documental series “Iyas Idanas - Mulheres da Cozinha”.
