A true-hearted movie lover from a very early age, Tori Pope is now a Los Angeles based screenwriter, director, producer, and editor. Since the age of 16, she has been on sets that run the range of small and independent to enormous and high-end, doing jobs of all kinds for a wide variety of projects.
Tori began directing her own narrative and fashion shorts in 2013, and since then has continued to create multiple projects every year. In 2019, her short film “Swamp Women Kissing Booth” screened at Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre, programmed by the American Cinematheque. That same year, her short film “Sugar Off the Button” screened at the Topanga Film Festival.
Her short films and other work have been recognized by Director’s Notes in London, Film Threat, Comedy Cake, Film Shortage, LA Cinefest, Film Pulse, and Diane Pernet’s website A Shaded View on Fashion.
Tori loves films, books, and TV from the 1960s (especially the Monkees), Dave Chappelle, Mike White, Beck, Milos Forman, Ricky Gervais, Jack White, Bill Owens, Lukas Moodysson, Joan Crawford, Alan Arkin, P.T. Anderson, The Simpsons, Ken Price, and anything to do with CCTV footage.
“With every project I’ve been on, I learn something, whether it’s huge or tiny,” Tori says. “I love learning from others, and I’ve found that everyone has something to teach. I draw so much inspiration from artists who don’t see boundaries — those who just go for it and make it work. Most of the time, the result is stunning and the process is exhilarating. Filmmaking makes me so extraordinarily happy, more than anything else, as it’s both a creative and learning experience each and every time.”
