DAG is an Ethiopian born-American Writer, Director, and Editor who immigrated to the United States at the age of 10 and grew up in Virginia. There, he attended the University of Virginia where he majored in physics and minored in film studies. Whether it's telling made-up stories to his friends in kindergarten or writing short and feature film screenplays, he has always found a way to present his perspective to the outside world. His interest is in directing historical fiction, sci-fi, and drama films with the hopes of bringing untold minority stories to the big screen. After serving as a Lead Editor on the Warner Bros. sponsored feature film, "SAMIR," in 2018, Dag went on to co-direct this year's WB sponsored film, "Voodoo Macbeth."
He recently finished his short film, "The Ball Method," which received the 2018 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Production Grant. It stars Kiersey Clemons ("Dope"), Wallace Langham ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation"), and Kyle Secor ("Veronica Mars). It premiered at the 2020 Pan African Film Festival and will play next at the Sarasota Film Festival.
Dag was also the Lead Editor on the feature film, "You Are Here" starring Peter Vack ("Mozart in the Jungle"), Anna Popplewell ("The Chronicles of Narnia"), and William Baldwin ("Northern Rescue").
He graduated from the University of Southern California Film and TV Production MFA Program in May 2019. Dag currently resides in Los Angeles and is represented by David Baggelaar at GoodFear Film + Management.
