Biography
Martha Poly is a film editor born in San Diego,CA (EUA) and raised in Mexico City. Her passion for telling stories led her in a long journey of exploring different disciplines such as writing, acting, directing,; until finally concentrated all her skills into visual storytelling by doing photography, sound design and film editing. All this experience gave her a visually-educated eye and a trained ear for music and sound design which enriches her film editing. By having dual citizenship (EUA-MEX) she provides insights in both cultures and works in both countries. Her editing mostly focuses on fiction and documentary feature films, series and commercials, she has also worked on short-films and music videos. Her projects have been selected in festivals such as Cannes Film Festival, Cannes Lions Festival, Morelia Film Festival, Guadalajara Film Festival and Raindance Film Festival. Her commercial work has been recognized at Cannes Lions, AICP Awards and Circulo Creativo (MX). She specializes in horror/thrillers and has done a lot of comedy work too. Her recent Netflix Series:: Who Killed Sara? S2, made it #1 on its release and remained at the top for several weeks. Some of her more relevant projects include the recently released Netflix Series: Rebelde, Who Killed Sara?, The Search, Cindy La Regia, Oasis (short documentary), While Waiting (Documentary), Km31; Sin Retorno, Hasta que la Boda Nos Separe and Mauve (Short). In 2015 she was selected for the art residency “Interdisciplinary Practices in Bioart” at the School of Visual Arts (NYC) led by artist Suzanne Anker. She is currently based in Mexico City and is a member or the AMEE (Asociación Mexicana de Editoras y Editores) .
