Biography
I am a Germany based professional cinematographer and video editor with a passion for visual storytelling. With over ten years of work experience my goal is to tell authentic, emotional and compelling visual stories.
From 2017 to 2019 I've been living in New York City. There, I completed a one year conservatory in Cinematography at the New York Film Academy, with a focus on film and digital cameras, cinematic lighting, editing, set etiquette. After my studies I have worked another year in New York as a freelance cinematographer, 1st camera assistant, and video editor. My work included narrative short films, music videos, promotional videos, and commercial work.
From 2010 to 2017 I worked as Lead Videographer at the Hamburg based company Jimdo, one of the world’s leading DIY website builders. I’ve been fortunate to work in this role during very different periods of growth for Jimdo: first, a bootstrapped startup with very few marketing dollars and then a venture capital funded business with a seemingly unlimited budget. This has given me the ability to develop a unique set of skills from creating low-budget, emotionally-appealing user stories to high-end global television commercials. In addition, my video experience includes direction, hands-on camera work, international content adaptation, editing, animation, color grading, and audio.
Before working as a professional videpgrapher, from 2003 to 2010 I studied at the School Of Arts in Braunschweig, as well as the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and graduated as M.A. in Media Studies, Media Technology, and Sociology.
