Sheila Kubheka is a ground breaking female director beaming with confidence and vision with no bounds. Sheila is the first black female commercial’s director and one of the longest standing in South Africa with 15 years experience to boast for. She is an honours graduate in film directing and was trained by one of the most acclaimed commercial’s director in the country, Miles Goodall. She started her award winning streak by being nominated at the YOUNG DIRECTOR’S AWARDS in Cannes, then went on to win a silver and a bronse at the Summit awards, also winning best ads on TV, twice, and many other nominations there after, to now being the owner of a young production company called Cr8ad. Having started in commercials that dig deep and shining the light on heart hitting matters that made the country roar, is what has made her the director that brings the soul of any commercial to the forefront. She is able to extract emotions from a wide range of concepts; be it for children, fashion, food or beauty products. Being taught by directors of high integrity who were rooted in oldschool teachings of real film making, embodied in her youthfulness, is what gives her relevance and value in the world we live in today.
