Lydia’s work in film, photography and art direction centres on storytelling and creating new queer narratives.
Lydia recently shot a Pride campaign for Rimowa, a gloriously camp music video for female rock band GHUM and a celebration of community football ahead of the upcoming Women’s Euros 2022 for Nike and Elle.
Earlier this year Lydia directed a documentary for adidas about the Hackney Rebels basketball community in London as part of a global campaign. The film, shot entirely on 16mm and 35mm, is funny, tender and full of queer joy.
Lydia’s debut film ‘Lonely Cowgirl’ is a sexy, queer, camp music video for Trouble Wanted, full of high drag and John Waters-style weirdness. Within a western-themed utopia Lonely Cowgirl and her love interest, a Dyke trucker, share more than lusty looks. Lonely Cowgirl won the LGBTQ+ Iris Community Prize and was nominated for 'Best Music Video' at Raindance, as well as 'Best Wardrobe / Styling' at the UKMVAs and it was selected for Berlin British Shorts, Fringe! Queer Film Festival and Leeds International Film Festival in 2021.
Lydia's work includes a portrait of 'Finn', the founder of transmasculine clothing brand Both&, a short breath of air that reaches deep into the roots of a singular trans man's experience and opens up the conversation around what we all share, rather than what separates us.
In 2019, Lydia directed a documentary for Nike, exploring the inclusion and safety of queer, trans and non-binary players within grassroots football through the team Wonderkid FC, produced with Girls In Film. The same year Lydia directed a gut-wrenching drag performance video with artist Wet Mess and several music videos for NIMMO and Sasha Wilde.
