Ane Rodríguez and Lore Monteiro, otherwise known as Purple lips, are a venezuelan female duo of directors and screenwriters, that reside in Mexico.
Purple Lips is characterized by the creation of moving stories told in fun ways, accompanied with a delicate aesthetic perceived through a palette of meticulously planned colors. They often create microcosms that result in the presentation of the idealization of life. Their repertoire consists of shorts, campaigns and videoclips.
Their first feature in the audiovisual medium is the short “Anastasia”, a romantic comedy that touches upon the subject of the environment. This short film was awarded 1st PLACE in the fiction category and Best Script in Ecofilm Festival 2016. Furthermore, it has been chosen as part of the official selection for several different international festivals like Festival internacional de cine de Valvidia y Festival de cine ambiental de La Patagonia. Their vertical short film “The Jacaranda” was awarded 3rd PLACE in the Die Erste Vertikale 2018.
During the quarantine time caused by the global pandemic, in 2020, they shoot their third short film called “Home”, filmed in social distancing. This is a romantic comedy about several days of two people lifes in the lockdown. This short film has more than ten oficial selections in festivals, being finalist in Szczecin Film Festival 2020 in Poland, in the Soria International Film Festival in Spain, among others. And was awarded as Best Production Design in Industry at Home Film Festival 2020 in USA.
They have worked with renowned music artists such “Emmanuel”, the actress and singer "Tessa Ia", the musician "Henry D´Arthenay", the Mexican rapper “Tino El Pingüino”, the rock-bands "Allison", “Roboto" and "Expediente Sama".
In advertising they have directed spots for cinema, tv and social media to different brands like Samsung, Netflix, Bimbo, Saníssimo, Coppel, L´Oréal, ExxonMobil, Nescafé, Citibanamex, Grupo Modelo, Beat, Feria Internacional del Libro, etc. Also, they have some social projects like Mani-Cura for Lifetime Channel with VMLY&R Mexico, about the breast cancer prevention that was awarded with 4 BRONZES on the Círculo Creativo 2019 and 1 GOLD Effie Social Awards. They directed a documentary spot for Beat about LGBT pride day, starring by Alejandra Bogue, a recognized Mexican transgender actress.
