Biography
Animation director Katy Wang is a natural storyteller. She graduated from the Illustration and Animation degree course at Kingston University. Katy’s films have a human feel, with subtle but poignant narratives, combined with her distinct elemental and textural visual style, all of which contribute to taking the viewer on a rich storytelling journey. Her graduation short film ‘Contact’ is an immersive interplanetary tale, with subtle themes of loneliness and intrigue. The 8-minute long film tells the story of a lonely astronaut stranded on a distant planet, who sends out a signal in search of human contact. Her previous work includes the award-winning ‘Mind the Gap’ film, that she made in her first year of study at university. It is a beautifully timed textural and visual experiment, portraying in an abstracted way the sights, sounds, and movement of the London Underground, inspired by its iconic seat patterns.
