Biography
Megan Park is a Canadian born actress, writer and director. Best known for her uniquely authentic voice as a screenwriter as well as many award-winning roles in front of the camera, including seven seasons on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” She is the recipient of the Toronto International Film Festival’s (TIFF) ‘Rising Star award, SCSW 2021 Brightcove Illumination Award for best emerging screenwriter, SXSW Best Narrative Feature and Audience Choice award 2021 for her film, The Fallout, several Teen Choice Awards and an ‘Emerging Directors’ award from Cannes Film Festival.
Park recently wrapped production on her debut feature film “The Fallout,” which she wrote and directed. The film, starring Jenna Ortega and Maddie Ziegler, follows high school student Vada (Ortega) as she navigates the emotional fallout she experiences in the wake of a school tragedy. The film premiered in the highly regarded ‘Narrative Feature Competition’ at this year’s 2021 SXSW International film festival where it WON best the Grand Jury prize for Best Narrative Feature, Megan also won the Brightcove Illumination award for emerging director and the film also won the Audience Favorite award.
Megan’s first foray into directing and writing was her 2017 short film “‘Lucy In My Eyes,” which premiered at the 2017 Austin Film Festival winning the Grand Jury Prize for ‘Best Narrative Short.’ She then wrote and sold a pilot to CBS Studios and was tapped to write an upcoming feature film for New Line/Warner Bros with Shailene Woodley attached to star. She has written and directed campaigns and high profile music videos for some of todays biggest artists such as Billie Eilish, Gucci Mane, Alina Baraz and Blackbear which have grossed upwards of 500 million views. She wrote and directed a short film, “Goodnight” for Janelle Monae’s “Beautiful Future” campaign, a platform to highlight four female filmmakers in 2018.
Her current list of directing and writing projects in development include a feature film with Paul Feig’s Feigco Entertainment and a television series for Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way and SONY with Dove Cameron attached to star.
Megan currently resides in Los Angeles.
