Biography
Based in PDX/LA, Alberta Poon is a first-generation Chinese American director and screenwriter known for her comedic flair, surreal-like imagery, and fondness for vibrant punches of color—creating bold worlds that embody beauty and humor in a playful and refreshing light. Alberta’s work explores the themes of the Asian-American diaspora experience using her comedic superpowers to capture people’s attention and imagination. Her multifaceted background as a musician, editor, and videographer fosters a rich and collaborative environment in addition to influencing the rhythm and emotion behind her storytelling. A common thread that ties her work together is inclusivity within underrepresented communities, both in front of and behind the camera. Alberta’s films have screened in the Bend Film Festival, Tacoma Film Festival, SPLIFF, Pérez Art Museum Miami and have been featured in Vogue (twice), RollingStone, and Broccoli Magazine. Her commercial directing work includes campaigns for Nike, Sapporo, TikTok, Adidas, Society Nine, Google, and She Shreds Media which have been featured by Ads of the World, Campaign US, and Free the Work. She is available for hire as a freelance director.
