Caroline Leone was born in São Paulo, Brazil in 1981. After graduating in film at FAAP (Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado) in 2005, she began her career as a film editor and director. She has edited more then 10 feature films, among fictions and documentaries, as well as many shorts, commercials and music videos.
Her first feature film as a director and writer, the critically acclaimed A Window to Rosalia (2018), was selected to over 20 festivals around the globe, and won important awards such as the FIPRESCI award at Rotterdam IFFR 2017, Best Artistic Contribution at the Havana Film Festival 2017, Jury Award at the Washington DC Film Festival among many others. It was commercially released in Argentina and Brazil in January 2018, and got excellent reviews around the world.
Leone is currently developing the script of her new feature film "From Guiné", to be shot in 2021. The project won the Hubert Bals Development Fund, and participated in several script development wokshops in 2019.
Leone also wrote and directed two awarded short films: "Dalva" her first short won the Best Latin American Film Award at the 47th Bilbao International Film Festival (Spain), New Talent Award at the 16th International Short Film Festival of São Paulo (Brazil), among others and "Joyce" her second short, shot in 35mm, also had a great festival career and screened in official selections of important festivals worldwide.
