Biography


Maegan Houang is a writer/director based in Los Angeles. She currently works on the FX mini-series Shōgun as a story editor and previously worked Season 2 of the Starz show Counterpart as a staff writer. Her short film In Full Bloom starring Kieu Chinh (The Joy Luck Club) played at numerous festivals including Fantastic Fest, Atlanta, New Orleans, Nitehawk and Oak Cliff and recently premiered online on Short of the Week. Maegan has also directed several acclaimed music videos for artists such as Mitski, Vagabon, Charly Bliss, Chastity Belt and Skylar Spence. Her videos have been featured in SXSW, Noisey, Fact Magazine, Stereogum, Pitchfork, Vimeo Staff Picks and Videostatic. Her work primarily focuses on the complexity of the Asian-American experience, intergenerational trauma and and her own experience living as a biracial American.
