Kathryn creatively re-imagines storytelling by stretching the conventions of cinéma vérité through her art direction, subtle humour, experimental visuals, and choreography. Her work is focused around creating more positive portrayals of women on screen. Her films focus on representations of the real by featuring stories of people who are not generally represented in the widespread media and by challenging non-inclusive tropes within advertising, fashion and music. Kathryn’s documentaries, music videos, fashion films, and commercials have been screened globally on platforms such as the BBC, Nowness, Dazed and Confused and i-D. Her work, which often has a socio-political message at its core, has won a host of awards including a Gold Creative Bravery Award at the Kinsale Shark Awards 2017 for “25 Annoying Things”, a Repeal the Eighth film for Amnesty International. As well as working as a freelance director, Kathryn spent several years working as Selfridges Resident Film Director where she directed most of the moving image content for the brand. International brands and musicians she has worked with include Nike, Amnesty International, Selfridges, Vogue, Air France, Girls Who Code, Dev Hynes & Neneh Cherry, Chloé, Sinead O’Connor and Lady Gaga. Kathryn’s latest documentary “Taking The Waters” premiered at Sheffield Doc Fest in June 2018 and is currently screening at festivals around the world.
