Born in Canada, Vanessa was raised in Europe and the Middle-East.
Working in the creative and cultural field for close to 15 years, she first worked as a journalist before transitioning to scripted storytelling, becoming a producer and creative for a global advertising agency based out of Montreal.
Shaped by her childhood across continents and a career seasoned by years in journalism, Vanessa is deeply interested in what shapes our identity, individuality, and uniqueness, emerging as a director with a profoundly human-oriented and sensitive approach. Since becoming a full-time filmmaker, she has directed campaigns for major brands such as Dove, Volkswagen, John Frieda, and Air Transat, to name a few, and collaborated with agencies in both Europe and North America.
Beyond advertising, she has directed several documentary series, produced, directed, and hosted a podcast, and is currently working on her first television fiction show (produced by Zone 3), assuming the roles of both scriptwriter and director. Her first feature, ASBESTOS, whose post-production concluded in the summer of 2023, is currently on the festival circuit list. Enjoying all aspects of filmmaking, she writes and edits most of her projects.
Vanessa also holds a background in acting and has studied at the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal. She is represented by ALT in Montreal and Asymetric for the rest of Canada.
