Biography
Z E N (they/them) is a multi-hyphenate nonbinary creator hailing from Flint, Michigan. Shortly after getting sober, they pursued filmmaking while also finding their own queer identity. This, plus their education in acting from Oxford University, has helped them to create a unique voice. Raw, empathetic, and deeply personal, their filmmaking elevates vulnerable stories that speak to universal truths. Both poetic and nuanced.
Their debut narrative short, "FRAUD", just had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival and was selected as one of the best films from Outfest on Awards Daily. Recently they have just finished a national CBS Campaign that also appeared in Times Square as well as a Meta spot for Pride. You can find their work featured in PAPER, Shots, Promo News TV, Huffington Post, Film Shortage, Broadway World, Latinx, Booooooom TV, and more.
Their documentary work has been featured in some of the world's top film festivals, such as The Palm Springs Film Festival; Bushwick Festival; HollyShorts; Sidewalk Film Festival; and International Rhode Island Film Festival.
Their filmic work within the nonprofit sector has helped to raise more than 2 million dollars collectively.
Currently, they are writing two features, an episodic. When they are trying not to sound so serious they are looking at the clouds and listening to a soundtrack.
