Biography
Growing up in the perplexing-yet-auspiciously diverse climates of Jamaica, the USA, and Germany gave Candice Vernon a unique experience that sparked her interest in storytelling. Known for her comedy and documentary work with high-profile celebrities like Oscar-winner Regina King and improv queen Jenny Slate, Candice has directed for NBA2K, Svedka Vodka, Warner Media | HBO, Proctor & Gamble, Vaseline, Spotify, Hulu, and BuzzFeed, among others. Her most recent feature-length documentary, Two Trials, investigates the social justice cases of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. Previous to that, she was hand-picked by Stevie Wonder to direct The Dream Still Lives, which celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., for which Candice worked with the Obamas, Common, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Meryl Streep, and countless other entertainment luminaries. Her award-winning short film, Make America Great? screened at festivals worldwide and received write-ups by The Hollywood Reporter and Decider.com. She received her BA in Film & TV from Temple University and has settled down — mostly — in Los Angeles and sometimes Accra, Ghana where she's building the Vernon Institute of Creative Arts and Technology.
