Shayar Bhansali is a film editor based in Los Angeles. His most recent work, I’m Your Woman, a feature film directed by Julia Hart and produced by Jordan Horowitz, was the opening night film at AFI Fest 2020. The film stars Rachel Brosnahan and will be available in theaters and on Amazon Prime at the end of the year.
Originally from Kolkata, India, Shayar spent the early years of his filmmaking career working on documentary films before transitioning to narrative content in Bollywood. After relocating to Los Angeles, he has continued to focus on narrative projects as an editor. His first feature editing credit, Standing Up Falling Down, starring Billy Crystal and Ben Schwartz, premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. He went on to edit Stargirl for Disney+ with frequent collaborator Tracey Wadmore-Smith, and Safe Space, an independent film directed by Stefan Kubicki scheduled for release in 2021.
Shayar is an alumni of the American Film Institute and Film Independent’s Project Involve. Between films, he enjoys exploring the diverse landscape of all the food LA has to offer, and definitely spends too much time dreaming about perfectly baked butter croissants.
