Biography
Sarah is a freelance film composer based in London.
Sarah has had her music heard on various broadcasting networks from the BBC, Channel 4 to PBS in the U.S. Her first collaboration on Barbeque dir. Jenny Jokela was selected by Channel 4 as part of their Random Acts Series in 2018. Since then Sarah has worked on multiple award winning short films. My Other Suit Is Human dir. Andrew Montague was nominated for ‘Best Short Film’ at the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards in 2021, with her score also nominated for ‘Best Score’ at the UK’s OXIFF. Strength dir. by Hedvig Ahlberg & Agathe Barbier received wide recognition in it’s objective to present the various forms of strength seen in women throughout their lives premiering at Underwire Festival’s ‘Everyday Women Warrior’s’ program and winning the ‘Women’s Rights Award’ at Trés Court Film Festival. The score was also nominated for the Peer Raben Music Award by Soundtrack Cologne as part of their 2020 congress.
Her work focuses on emotive and contemporary subjects with a style that fuses a minimalist approach with contemporary classical techniques and sound design. ”I like to use music sparsely and where needed. I think in terms of textures and colours which often dictate my soundscapes.”
Sarah has also worked in the music department for features in collaboration with studios such as Netflix, SKY and the BBC. Namely working as orchestrator with the London Contemporary Orchestra on Netflix’s The Forgotten Battle dir. by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. back in 2020 as well as her most recent work orchestrating for Aisling Brouwer’s upcoming SKY feature What Happened to Ursula? dir. Gareth Johnson released in 2022.
Sarah studied at the Royal College of Music in London after graduating from the University of Bristol, a city she considers a home from home!
