Biography
Melissa is an Emmy nominated comedy director based in Los Angeles and New York. Equally influenced by the realism of her life as a native New Yorker and the pop cultural alchemy of her early work at MTV directing and creative directing comedic promos and brand identity campaigns, Melissa Silverman’s path to comedy commercials directing was paved by her ability to coax natural, genuine performances out of every type of talent imaginable. From celebrities to traditional actors, standup comedians to improv players—you name it, she’s made them shine, serving up a unique blend of honesty, comedy, and quirk in every spot. On top of her award-winning work as a comedy commercial director, Melissa has worked as a segment director for Jimmy Kimmel Live and has ventured into longer format episodic projects, including All Over It, a digital comedy series co-directed with fellow MTV alum Ted Pauly and featured on Funny Or Die. Melissa has directed commercial campaigns for clients including Funny Or Die, McDonalds, BET, United Way, Cooking Channel, ADCOLOR, Breyers, Dannon, Genworth Financial, Tuborg Beer, KFC, Motorola, and DIRECTV and was nominated for an Emmy for the launch campaign of Noggin (now Nick Jr.) at Nickelodeon.
