Biography
Jennifer Juniper Stratford is a director and video artist from Los Angeles. Inspired by a love of outsider cinema, experimental animation, and video art her work feels like something you might catch on late night cable or on an obscure video cassette.
She has directed documentaty films, music videos, science fiction programs, created title sequences, station IDs and video graphics as well as designed immersive art installations, live performances and stage visuals.
Interested in exploring images and possibilities that are hidden by the cutting-edge she looks to decades of video art, experimental computer graphics, and other unclassifiable creative endeavors between people and machines for inspiration.
In 2004, she established Telefantasy Studios, a creative production studio that uses and experiments with television broadcast tools on the verge of becoming obsolete and integrating them into the digital age to create unique and timeless works.
Her work has been exhibited, broadcast, and screened internationally and includes MoCA, The Hammer Museum, LACMA, The Getty, Cinemarfa, CPH:DOX, The Museum of the Moving Image New York, New Beverly Cinema, BAM Cinématek, and on public access stations across the United States, and various exhibitions in cyberspace. In 2016 she was awared a grant from the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts for her work with Telefantasy Studios.
