Biography
Jett Garrison is a Los Angeles-based writer and director. He’s known for directing Season One of the award winning digital series THESE THEMS.
Jett’s awards include an EMMY win and an OSCAR nomination for his short film work. He recently sold a half hour pilot to UCP (Universal Content Productions) and his feature script QUICK QUICK SLOW was a finalist in OUTFEST’s Screenwriting lab. Jett’s half hour pilot TRUNCLE is a project based on his own life.
Through Film Independent’s Project:Involve Fellowship, Jett ‘s film THREE MINUTES was sponsored by NBC/Universal Studios and Banana Republic. Jett was also selected to participate in Sony Picture Television’s Inaugural Diverse Director’s Program and is on deck to participate in Ryan Murphy’s HALF Initiative in 2021.
As a Trans identified storyteller, Jett is driven to represent strong, unconventional characters within society and shares his storytelling experience within his community as a continuing mentor to young filmmakers through Outfest’s OutSet Young Filmmaker program.
Jett explores themes of queerness, chosen family and marginalized communities in his work.
Coming of age in Austin, Texas in the early 90s, Jett lived most of his early adulthood as a masculine of center Lesbian until finding his truth as a Transmasculine person in his 40s.
Jett is a proud member of the WGA and earned his MFA in Film Directing from the University of Texas at Austin.
