Emily McDonald
Biography
Emily's work exhibits stories within society that are rarely seen on screen. With each film she hopes to show how important it is to give everyone a voice - regardless of their place in this world. With one GCSE in tow, Emily was kindly asked to leave her school at the age of sixteen for bad behaviour. She moved to London on her own and managed to find a job as a runner. From there she began to forge her skills in filmmaking by freelancing with as many companies as possible. Over the past two years she’s worked with companies like Vice, BBC Three, Channel 4 and The Tate amongst others. Recent highlights include a documentary called ‘Incomplete’ which was shown at BFI Flare’s film festival and a Young Director's Award for Emily's film ‘The Hardest Word’. Emily strives to be an approachable person both in life and when filming.
