Biography
Stefano Forlini is french-caribbean-italian cinematographer.
He grew up abroad, his last teenager years may be relevant, eight years in Middle-East, Tel-Aviv, Beyrouth and Damascus. He seems to have always been a stranger, always looking life on a outside point of view and it’s with a head full of images, feelings, contradictions, open-heart that he started making his way in cinema studies in Paris. From the beginning he was aiming for cinematography, interacting with young french directors. On his way he build up his experience working as camera assistant and gaffer with a few master cinematographers and shot several shorts films in France, Italy, China and US as well has a few feature films in Paris.
As a tango dancer he always cherish a love for the body language, the beauty of mouvement and connection to the other and works also now has steadicam operator.
On the other hand documentaries would also be an important part of what he does. Talking about issues of now days and giving a voice to people wherever they are to make a change something, even a tiny bit, is for him a powerful act.
On his free time, he made his way back to Israel, Palestine and Lebanon to start a documentary about what he calls « the Hopes Of Middle-East », H.O.M.E. , mostly about women’s project, that would try to change things around themselves with so much love.
This summer with a bench of friends, in south a France, they are creating a new show, a serie, that has for goal an ecological theme through a totally thrilling script and has the desire to be as eco-responsible in the process has possible. He says it’s hard, the system is not ready yet. Hard to find the balance between time, cost and artistic desires.
