Biography
Ijaaz Noohu is a director currently residing in Los Angeles, California. His short film “Start Breaking My Heart” was the recipient of the competitive Katharina-Otto Bernstein Award at Columbia University’s School of the Arts and is currently screening at festivals around the country.
Ijaaz was born in Sri Lanka and migrated to the United States at three years old. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics (with minors in English and Television) at Chapman University and worked extensively in film and television – on productions such as Anomalisa, The Colbert Report, and Mad Men – before heading to Columbia University and completing an MFA in Film, with an emphasis in Directing.
He received a fellowship from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to support his directing endeavors. He has directed music videos and short films and is currently developing his first narrative feature, which is based on his short film “Start Breaking My Heart.”
