Muriel Rukeyser (1913-1980) was an American poet and political activist, best known for her poems about equality, feminism, and social justice. She is one of our country's most significant yet neglected writers, and influenced many poets including Adrienne Rich, Denise Levertov, Anne Sexton, and Alice Walker.
