Yamila Diaz Rahi: An Artist Life in Poetic Form
Description :
Yamila Diaz Rahi was a successful model in the early 2000's. She got married, had children and abandoned the spotlight for family life and a burgeoning ceramic art practice. This short film showcases her art as well as a current day reveal of her at the end all the while telling the story strictly through her hands. The VO is delivered by her dear friend and non actor, Brooklyn restaurateur, Edoardo Mantelli.
Behind the lens is Jac Martinez, the photographer and cinematographer, whose previous work can be seen in such art pieces as Kahlil Joseph's "Fly Paper" and whose work was featured in a solo show at the top of the year in Berlin.
The composer is my regular collaborator, Chris Joyner, who just returned stateside from a European tour with Ben Harper.
