Say Lou Lou - You're The One
Description :
Twin sisters Elektra and Miranda Kilbey are back with a cover of Kate Bush’s You’re The One. The song is a lovers lament, steeped in Say Lou Lou’s ever dreamy harmonies and melancholic beats. The duo play two sides of the same woman, each battling her own inner obstacles which manifest into physical realities when trying to leave a relationship. “The song is about the different choices we each make in love, that limbo of deciding to stay or leave. We decided to play with the duality of the twins very directly and present these alternate versions of a love that might exist and simultaneously be a dream.” Director Chloe Hayward explains. “We were inspired by the Dogma filmmakers, so we set rules for the video as if it were a film. We never see the two girls in the same frame, Elektra is only ever seen outside and Miranda is only seen inside the house to echo these two versions.”
On the decision to cover You’re The One, the band describe a happy accident on a car ride together. “After we’d just written Waiting For A Boy, we were driving down a country road and You’re The One came on shuffle. It felt strange to hear a Kate Bush song we didn’t recognize and had never heard (a deep cut from one of her later records )but it struck a chord- it felt like a sibling to Waiting For A Boy, a next chapter in that same breakup story. So, we decided, despite many times saying that Bush should never be covered, to do our own take on it.”
