Imagining a world in ecological collapse, CACOTOPIA’s inhabitants cling to survival. Drenched in the silken webs of young designers Wesley Manners and Alexandra Larrabure, their drapery is more sickening than it is seductive. Their hair and complexion warped by Shani Mushington’s artistry, these creatures wield an unruly talon on each finger, piercing the poisoned earth below. They speak in vibrations, mimicking the flora’s patterns. Convulsing in ectopic repulsion, their bodies are twisted, carcass-like, by Kaivalya Brewerton’s choreography. They slink in communion with Suvi-Eeva Äikäs’ (BBC’s Devs, Prime Video’s Hanna) synth-heavy, pulsating score. Their rhythm is breathless, heightened by an unyielding edit by Joe Auborn (contributor to CRACK Magazine, collaboration with Stanley Donwood).
