THE GAME
Description :
The game of basketball is an integral part of New York City culture. Situated beside a busy train station, a large crowd congregates around a street-ball court watching the game during the golden hours of dusk. A fantastic amount of community spirit is felt. One can sense the amount of commitment to the game that both the spectators and players have; almost a sense of kinship or unity, yet open and welcoming to the passers by. I was able to experience the vibrancy and warmth felt amid a crowd of family and friends; mothers of the players selling merchandise, children of the players eating ice cream, grandparents showing their support, and strangers surrounding the fences cheering the game on. I wanted to make was a film that both demonstrated the immense dedication the basketball players have for the game and enhance the cultural beauty that it produces. The game cultivates a crowd of people from all walks of life and creates a harmonious unity amidst the chaos of the city.
